THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT – Lesson One
Note that the focus of this study will be on “the gifts of the Spirit” listed in 1 Corinthians 12:8-10, (KJV) – 8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 to another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 to another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues. Definition of Gift: (Lexical Aids to the New Testament) “5486 … A gift of grace; an undeserved benefit from God (Rom. 1:11; 1 Tim. 4:14).”
Recipients of Spiritual Gifts: All believers who have been filled with the Holy Spirit are recipients of at least one Gift. 1 Corinthians 12:7, 11 – 7Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.
11All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.
Purpose of Spiritual Gifts: 1 Corinthians 12:7 – Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.
(AMP) But to each one is given the manifestation of the [Holy] Spirit [the evidence, the spiritual illumination of the Spirit] for good and profit.
(The Living New Testament) – The Holy Spirit displays God’s power through each of us as a means of helping the entire church.
THE WORKING OF MIRACLES:
Definition of Miracles: Miracles are supernatural occurrences which reveal the supremacy of God.
